Ace von Alsdorf is a beautiful, 19-month-old German Shepherd. This dashing fellow with the piecing amber eyes is a ton of fun. Ace is a happy boy who isn’t shy about giving you a nudge to play or for pets. He melts in your arms when getting chest and ear rubs. Ace came to the rescue after he lived with a family, and still looks to be in the center of it all. In canine playgroups, Ace comes in ready to make friends. He enjoys running the yard and plays with willing partners, including smaller dogs. He steers clear of pushy types and doesn’t forget to check in with you for affection. Ace knows sit and stay commands and enjoys treats. He has a medium energy level and loves going on long walks. In his previous home, Ace lived with small dogs (pugs) and very young children. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog.
